Sabeehah M.

The idea for this blog came to me one evening, while I was contemplating the meaning of life and the vastness of the universe in the shower (as one does). I had just had a conversation over Skype with my parents, who were offering me advice on how to maintain my good reputation in a society with small minds and big mouths.

For context, I am a 22 year old South African Muslim woman, who spent about 12 years growing up in Europe, as well as an additional 3 years there, pursuing higher education and residing alone in a different country to my parents. I then moved back to South Africa to find my career and, at risk of sounding cliché, myself.

And so I have come to learn much about being a local stranger.
